Dried Citrus D.I.Y Christmas Decorations

Here at Father Rabbit we love a bit of arts and crafts, especially when it looks this great! Add a touch of D.I.Y to your Christmas tree this year with these dehydrated citrus slices! So summery yet festive at same time. This is a lovely little project to do with little ones (with supervision for cutting and oven steps) and will make them so proud to see their own creations up on the tree.

You can use any type of citrus fruit slices for this project; lemons, oranges, grapefruit or limes. The more you use the more colour your tree will have!

Cut your chosen fruit into 1.5cm thick slices. The amount will depend on how many decorations you would like, but we used 3-5 oranges.

Once you have all your fruit sliced, place the pieces in a single layer on baking paper lined baking trays and gently blot with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

Bake your slices in the oven for 5 - 6 hours at 120 Degrees celsius or until slightly browned and completely dry.

Complete your decorations by adding some natural twine to hang. Use a tooth pick or skewer to pierce a hole through the flesh of the dried fruit and thread the twine through. And just like that your decorations are complete and ready to hang. These would also be charming made into garlands if you continue a long piece of yarn through multiple slices.
