Plumm wine glasses have been a long standing staple on the Father Rabbit shelves. As with all the goods you’ll find in our stores, this range is tried and true and one of our favourites to recommend. Designed in Melbourne, Plumm is produced in Europe from the highest quality crystal. In today’s blog post, we’ll be taking you through the design of each of the glasses and highlighting the importance of pairing the right glass with the right wine to ensure you’re capturing the best characteristics of your favourite drop.
For aromatic white wines such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris, we recommend the White Wine Glass. This style of wine requires a small bowl to capture it’s delicate floral and fruit aromas. For Chardonnay and aged white wines, the Chardonnay Glass offers a larger bowl to enhance the complexity of the flavours typically found in those varietals. For customers who aren’t typically perhaps the biggest fans of Chardonnay, we highly recommend trying a Chardonnay in this style of glass; we firmly believe it’s the difference between a good glass of wine and a great one.
If you’re a red wine drinker, there are two different styles of glass to choose from. Red wine benefits from a larger bowl as it offers a greater surface area for aeration. This allows your wine to ‘breathe’ which in turn creates a balance between the bouquet and the texture of the tannin and oak. The Red Wine Glass is ideal for full bodied wines like Shiraz and Merlot as this design has a wider opening. For medium to lighter bodied reds, the Pinot Noir Glass has a smaller opening to capture the more delicate floral and fruit aromas found in these style of wines. This glass is great for Pinot Noir, Burgundy and Nebbiolo. The clever team at Plumm have also created the Red or White Wine Glass. This glass is the perfect all rounder.
