Our Herne Bay Community

Our Herne Bay store is lucky to be a part of the lovely Jervois Road neighbourhood, we thought it would be great to showcase some of our neighbours in our community, and share what we love about spending time nestled amongst the atmosphere of Herne Bay.

Father Rabbit Herne Bay

Our Herne Bay store feels like a real foundation for us at Father Rabbit, the space itself is a true testament to our values and brand ethos. Although Herne Bay was our second brick and mortar store, it feels like the space where it all began, talking to our brand's roots of Nick and Claudia's Grey Lynn villa. The first things you'll notice when you walk in are the high, decorated ceilings, and fresh white paint covering ceiling to floor, creating a warm and inviting space. We love all of our regular customers who pop in for weekly visits, and have done for years - a word of warning, nobody leaves empty handed!
To set the scene, upon arriving to Herne Bay you'll have either come in from the ever-busy Ponsonby Road, Shelley Beach Road which will take you past the Point Erin Pools, or Westmere, which will take you past the best smoked salmon in town off Kotare Avenue, and beautiful scenery as you dip down into Cox's Bay. This lovely park will be bustling with families and prams, joggers, dog walkers and children out on their bikes at all times.

Dear Jervois

It doesn't take long when meandering down Jervois Road to get caught up in the cafe scene and find yourself ducking into one of Herne Bay's many bustling cafes. Our daily go-to has to be Dear Jervois where the baristas know most of their customers by name, as well as their coffee order. You can find yourself a sunny spot on the benches out front in the morning sun whilst you wait for your Eight Thirty coffee to hit, or if coffee is not your go-to, be sure to try their cacao maca superfood smoothie full of Banana, medjool dates, honey, coconut cream, raw cacao and maca powder.

Simon James

We're proud to be sitting next door to Simon James Concept store. Over the years our stores have had lovely connections, sharing lunch rooms and back gardens and getting to know the staff who work across the store and show room. The Simon James Concept store has some of our favourite brands including - Tom Dixon, Aesop, and new addition Emma Lewisham!

Tessuti

We have always believed that you spend most of your time, and money in the shops that surround where you work. This couldn't be more true for the most gorgeous store a few shops down from us, Tessuti which has been a mainstay in Herne Bay for over 25 years now! Father Rabbit’s founder Claudia recently invested in some beautiful Max Thomson paintings for her own home and they look great nestled amongst her Father Rabbit pieces. Even if you aren't shopping for anything, popping into Tessuti to pat Monty the chocolate labrador is always worth your while.

Kathryn Wilson

Just round the bend from Father Rabbit is the beautiful footwear store, Kathryn Wilson. We love seeing the lovely founder Kathryn in and around Herne Bay. Her store is a dream to visit, with stunning pink decor and always interesting signage.

The Beauty Merchants

The Beauty Merchants, run by Frenchie and Co a few doors down, is the perfect sister beauty brand to accompany their always busy hair salon. A sweet little pink shop which maintains its original villa structure is the perfect hideaway to unwind whilst pampering yourself with one of their many treatments on offer. What more could you want than a lash lift on your lunch break!

Fish Smiths

There's no better way to finish off a day on the block than to tuck into some grilled fish tacos, kumara chips, and Fish Smith's not to be missed, battered halloumi. Take your bundle of Herne Bay's favourites with you down Lawrence Street to Herne Bay beach, sit with the locals and soak up the atmosphere.
Parking wise, there are plenty of parallels along Jervois Road as well as side streets filled with parking pouring down into Grey Lynn. During peak hours you may need to drive around a little for a spot, but you'll be sure to find one in no time with all the coming and going!
Visit us in store at 232 Jervois Road and get amongst everything Herne Bay has to offer x
