Gold vermeil (ver-may) is a super thick layer of 18k gold over solid sterling silver (2.5 microns of plating to be exact, compared to most plated jewellery which is only 0.5 microns over brass or stainless steel). Gold vermeil is a universal standard of plating that is designed to be long-lasting and have the look and feel of solid gold jewellery, at a fraction of the price.
