Father Rabbit is proud to be a stockist of the beautiful brand Bembien. Father Rabbit adores Bembien’s line of nostalgic and perennial style accessories that have been handmade around the world.
Bembien’s story started with a glimpse of a woman in a white linen dress crossing a cobblestoned street in New York with the perfect woven basket bag swung over her shoulder.
‘It stopped us in our tracks. There was something about her that was so effortless — she looked as though she had stepped out of 1970s coastal France. We were transfixed.’ - Bembien
It was this encounter that inspired founder of Bembien, Yi-Mei Truxes, to create a line of bags evoking that same nostalgia and perennial style. It had to be just right, and six years at Vogue had trained her well.
‘Yi-Mei Truxes eventually found it in a small village of artisan weavers in Bali. And thus, Bembien was born.’
At the forefront of Bembien’s work is the support of the precious weaving communities. Bembien has a goal to help bring their craft into a wider market on the other side of the globe. 10% of all Bembien proceeds go back into their local community in partnership with the nonprofit Nest.
