Q: Where are the materials sourced from?
A: Our sofas are proudly made in New Zealand with New Zealand sourced untreated pine and European fabric. The inner is made from a mixture of feather and foam. Using a bespoke English technique, each of our sofas are custom made and all the options listed can be altered to best suit the look you are after; whether it is a daybed or sofa without the arm rests.
Q: What are the differences between the Madison, Cameroon, Konyak and Gitano fabrics?
A: The Madison fabric is composed of 63% linen and 37% cotton. The Cameroon is a 100% linen fabric as is the Konyak fabric. And the Gitano is a 100% canvas cotton.
We recommend a dark linen fabric for families as a darker colour is more sympathetic to any marks or stains. If you have a different fabric that you’d like to use on one of our sofas, we are more than happy to arrange this for you.
Q: What is the Martindale Cycle?
A: The Martindale Cycle is indicative of the durability and suitability of a fabric. The higher the Martindale Cycle rating, the more durable a fabric is.
Q: How long does it take for my sofa to be made?
A: Each sofa is made to order. It usually takes 3 to 4 weeks for a sofa to be made. During busy periods of the year, it make take a little longer.
Q: Can Father Rabbit organise the delivery of my sofa?
A: Of course! We are more than happy to offer a quote for the delivery company we work with at the time of purchase. Please note, all payments, insurance and responsibility lies with the customer. Payment for delivery is made by the customer directly to the delivery company. We will ensure your sofa is packaged well however Father Rabbit is not liable for any damage caused in transit.
Q: Am I required to pay a deposit on purchase?
A: Yes. We require a 50% deposit of the total purchase amount before we order your sofa. We then require the remaining amount to be paid before delivery.
Q: Can I purchase more than one cover for my sofa?
A: Having a spare cover for your sofa is a great way to extend the life and look of your Ted sofa. We recommend purchasing an additional cover for your sofa at time of purchase as it will be custom made to suit the frame of your sofa and it will avoid you returning the frame to the manufacturer to have an additional cover made at a later date.
Q: Will the fabric on my sofa fade in the sun?
A: Yes, like most soft furnishings this can occur to all fabrics over time. If you’re especially concerned about the effect the sunlight may have on the fabric, we recommend applying a UV protection film to your windows.
Q: What are the warranties available?
A: There is a 10 year guarantee on the frame and a 5 year guarantee on the materials (inner of the sofa only). Any fading of the fabric is not covered by these warranties.
Q: How do I best care for my sofa?
A: We recommend getting the cover professionally cleaned whilst the cover is on the frame. It is advised that you do not remove the cover and machine wash the fabric as shrinkage may occur and it may be difficult to get it back onto the frame. We also recommend vacuuming regularly using low suction and rotating reversible cushions regularly.
Q: How long can I expect my sofa to last?
A: With good care, our sofas can last up 25 years.
